The Story of the Corkybird
When Carey was born, she was nicknamed Corky, a name she used until she went to college.
After graduating, she moved back into her parents' house for a while, but eventually left to live on her own. That's when K. E. Sackett (Li'l Eddie) drew the very first Corkybird cartoon, The Corkybird Leaves the Nest. Almost immediately, he followed it with a drawing of the Corkybird playing the cello, with the caption: The Corkybird is characterized by a high degree of culture.
