Corkybird Enterprizes

Creative Designs for Music Education

After graduating from Eastman, Carey (who had been called 'Corky' for most of her life) lived with her parents in Ithaca for a few years.  In 1977, when she moved out, her brother-in-law Eddie Sackett drew the first cartoon of the Corkybird 'leaving the nest.' It was quickly followed by a picture of the Corkybird sitting in a tree playing the cello, with the caption 'The Corkybird is characterized by a high degree of culture.'  Over the next several years, Eddie's prolific output of Corkybird-enalia included greeting cards, t-shirts, calendars, and a delightful storybook called How the Corkybird Made MusicWe hope to make many of these materials available to you through this site in the very near future!

In addition to being a wonderful cartoonist, Eddie is a dedicated potter.  This beautiful Corkybowl is one of his recent creations.
